About this product

Product Information

Life is very different now in the rambling Gilbreth house. When the youngest was two and the oldest eighteen, Dad died and Mother bravely took over his business. Now, to keep the family together, everyone has to pitch in and pinch pennies. The resourceful clan rises to every crisis with a marvelous sense of fun -- whether it's battling chicken pox, giving the boot to an unwelcome boyfriend, or even meeting the President. And the few distasteful things they can't overcome -- like castor oil -- they swallow with good humor and good graces. Belles On Their Toes is a warm, wonderful and entertaining sequel to Cheaper By The Dozen.

  • Great continuation of a much beloved true story.

Even though the mother was a closet feminist, this family showed the blessings of having a large family. Even the hardships don't outweigh the joys. It was great to see that the system their father set up carried them through the trials they went through after his death. Moreover, it was a treat to see these kids (to whom are endeared as you read the first book) grow into fine men and women with families of their own. The authors were witty and kept you wanting more. You get to cry and laugh out loud at the many antics of the kids. All and all, this was a great little book!! It was thoroughly enjoyable.

  • old time favorite!

  • Good book, but not as good as Cheaper By the Dozen!

This is the continuing story of the Gilbreth family after the father (Frank) dies of a heart attack. Interesting reading and fun to find out what happened to the children as they grew up. It seems that their father was the one who brought the fun to the family, though, as this book seemed drier and not as entertaining.

  • good book

I've searched for this book for years having read it once or twice in my teens. It's the sequel to Cheaper By the Dozen and is just as entertaining.
