About this product

Product Information

Hearty boeuf Bourguignon served in deep bowls over a garlic-rubbed slice of baguette toast; decadently rich croque monsieur, eggy and oozing with cheese; gossamer cr me brulee, its sweetness offset by a brittle burnt-sugar topping. Whether shared in a cozy French bistro or in your own home, the romance and enduring appeal of French country cooking is irrefutable. Here is the book that helps you bring that spirit, those evocative dishes, into your own home. What Ina Garten is known for--on her Food Network show and in her three previous bestselling books--is adding a special twist to familiar dishes, while also streamlining the recipes so you spend less time in the kitchen but still emerge with perfection. And that's exactly what she offers in Barefoot in Paris . Ina's kir royale includes the unique addition of raspberry liqueur--a refreshing alternative to the traditional cr me de cassis. Her vichyssoise is brightened with the addition of zucchini, and her chocolate mousse is deeply flavored with the essence of orange. All of these dishes are true to their Parisian roots, but all offer something special--and are thoroughly delicious, completely accessible, and the perfect fare for friends and family. Barefoot in Paris is suffused with Ina's love of the city, of the bustling outdoor markets and alluring little shops, of the bakeries and fromageries and charcuteries--of the wonderful celebration of food that you find on every street corner, in every neighborhood. So take a trip to Paris with the perfect guide--the Barefoot Contessa herself--in her most personal book yet.

  • I recommend this book to everyone! Wonderful recipies!

I really love cooking with this book! I first tried the Beef Bourguinon recipe from the foodnetwork and after that I couldn't wait to get the book to try more! If you love to cook and enjoy simple french food, this is it. It also has many gorgeous pictures of the dishes and paris as well. Wonderful information on Paris (where to go and things to do). I have made quite a few recipes and they've all been so good! It's also a fun cookbook to read! The recipes are not complicated to make and worth every minute it took to make. I highly recommend it!

  • No one is better than Ina

I now have all of Ina's books and I have to say that it doesn't much get better than Ina. I have been collecting cookbooks for years and there are books I just look at, books I get rid of and books that I use over and over again. Barefoot Contessa books are the only ones you need. In a word Perfect. I have made several of her recipes. I have lost count as to the number of times I have made pear/apple crisp, apple crisp, curried chicken salad. Her carrot cake is the best I have ever tasted. And, her recipe for Chicken with Croutons in the Paris book is worth the price of the whole book. I had it 3 x just this week. It is fantastic. Absolutely scrumptious. I also add herbs de provence to it. Run don't walk to get this book and all her other ones. I hear she is also coming out ...

  • Wonderful cookbook...delicious food..easy to follow!!!

I love this cookbook. I love to cook in general, but her cookbooks are the first I reach for on my shelf because her recipes are delicious. My husband is now hooked on watching her show! The recipes are easy to follow and you can never go wrong with any of her recipes that contain cake. The book itself is a nice hardback and the pictures are beautiful. She also gives tips throughout. Like in this one, she tells you about french wine. It is a must have for anyone who loves being in the kitchen!
