I was a bit hesitant to order this as there was such negative comments about the quality of the transfer but was very nicely surprised with this copy ( there are 2 very small glitches that I am not concerned with as I know this an older production) .. the shipping was excellent & am very pleased with the transaction ..     Most Horrible Picture Quality You Can Imagine

    This is a fondly remembered film, and I was very happy to find it on DVD at last. However, the actual product is a crashing disappointment, for this reason: This is the single worst DVD release I have ever seen, with picture quality that looks like a VHS dupe from a TV broadcast, where the tape has been badly stored. The picture quality is not as good as many public-domain DVD titles I've purchased. Given that this was a prestigious production in its day, and one of the most popular movies in Britain at the time, this is a crashing disappointment, and I urge you to buy it only if you can overlook the dreadful, dreadful picture quality.

    Great for “ Regency “ aficionados

    A wonderful movie for its time ! I saw it years ago & was captivated.. a bit dated now but still enjoyable & thrilled that this dvd was in good reproduction ( as many reviews were not happy with the quality ) Very pleased ..

    DEAR SIRS, I AM SORRY TO SAY THIS IS THE WORST PURCHASE OF A DVD I HAVE EVER MADE. IT IS SO BLURRED AND SO OBVIOUSLY COPIED FROM AN EXTREMELY OLD VIDEO RECORDING THAT YOU CAN BARELY RECOGNISE THE ACTORS. IT WAS SO DISAPPOINTING AS I WAS DELIGHTED TO FINALLY HAVE COME ACROSS A DVD OF ONE OF MY FAVOURITE MOVIES. SHIREEN JAMIL

I gave it to a friend as a Christmas present, since they were a fan of Richard Chamberlain , I myself had seen the movie before when I rented it from the library at Ohio Link, and I really enjoyed hte performances of Sarah Miles, Jon Finch, Richard Chamberlain, and Sir Laurence Olivier
