    Finding Shangri-la

    I bought the book after seeing both the 1937 and the 1973 movie versions of Lost Horizons. What makes the book more memorable than the movies are certain passages in the novel that pertain to what makes happiness and contentment. By reading the book, you come to realize that Shangri-la is not a location but more a place of the mind. And that what Shangri-la is differs from person to person. One of the conclusions about Shangri-la is that when you find your own Shangri-la you will not want to leave it.

    Find the true Shagri-La in your life and you read Lost Horizon.

    If you seen the movie, you'll have some idea of what is going on in the story as you read it. The Prologue introduces the main character, Conroy, as a mythical hero who seeks great challenges but James Hilton reveals a easy going individual. The movie has Conroy's brother in the adventure. There is no brother in the book. The book has an insert flier the explains the author's life. This is a hard cover edition. The Lost Horizon is noted as the first book to be printed as a paperback.
