Slapstick abounds
George Clooney not only starred in this slapstick comedy, he also directed it. The movie may not win any awards, but it is enjoyable to watch. Since the movie took place in 1925, the writers took us back to that time, and slapstick was the rule. If you let yourself go and get into the movie, you will actually get the feel of that era. George is very talented, but I don't think he has a flair for comedy. Renee Zellweger and George share a chemistry together that works well for this movie. You may think this is a chick flick, but you would be somewhat wrong. The love angle doesn't really get going until the end. You will love the way they play pro football with very few rules, especially, the last game that is played in the mud. This is a cute movie, and I know they had a lot of fun making ... Leathersheads: Clever & Whitty Comedy
Well, the main reason I bought the movie was because my husband is a huge sports fan and loves football. Being that he is from Chicago and the movie takes place in old Chicago I knew he would love it... Personally, I thought the movie was Good but not Great! I expected to see more old school football plays and less talk. I loved how they set everything back in the 20's and the music. Felt like I was watching a real classic! Overall the movie is Good and was cleverly played out, just wish they would have thrown in more actual football. I give it a 4 out of 5 Stars*Well, the main reason I bought the movie was because my husband is a huge sports fan and loves football. very good movie about the begining of pro football, and the bribes, and hard hitting when the players hardy wore any protection. Also a sort of comedy love story with George Coonie as the main star, well worth the time to watch about 2 hours long, funny and history at the time taking place in the roaring 20s
