An Invitation to Indian Cooking by Madhur Jaffrey
This is a very well written book. It is easy to understand and was written with American and English cooks in mind. There is a list of commonly used spices and herbs. It also covers techniques used in Indian cooking. I have prepared quite a few recipes from this book and they have all been excellent. If you have an interest in Indian cooking/ food I would recommend investing in this book.
